The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a catholic lay organization that helps those in need who are our friends in Christ. We are not a social Service Agency—–we are a person-to-person catholic ministry that sees the face of Christ in the faces of those who are suffering.

Jesus told us, “The poor will be with us always.” They are found all over our diocese including in your own area. They are families and individuals on limited income who are having problems paying their rent or utilities and may not even have enough money to buy food or clothes for their children. There are people in need in your parish or area and you have an opportunity to offer a helping hand by serving in a Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and put into action your faith to serve those who are in need.

There are many generous people in the world who help by giving donations—-and money is certainly important for our work to continue, but what we also need is you and your time. Men and women in all age groups and cultures serve the needy every day in St. Vincent de Paul Conferences all over the world. We need people as two person teams, to visit the homes of those in need to bring them food, financial assistance, or sometimes to just listen. You do not need to be of the Catholic Faith to be a member of the Society, you need only to share our beliefs. There are many ways to serve, such as work in a food pantry, serve on a committee, fundraising, etc.. There is a place for everyone and everyone has a place in God’s plan. Right now opportunities are available in Conferences in Lakeland, Winter Haven, and Haines City.
